1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how TechKhedut Inc. (“TechKhedut”, “we”, “our” or “us”) handles information when you use PDF Reader: Scan, Edit & Sign (the “App”) on iOS or Android. It applies only to the App; our website is covered by the TechKhedut website privacy policy.
The App does not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address or phone number to use it. Your PDFs, scans and signatures are stored and processed on your device. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. At a glance

- Your documents stay on your devicePDFs, scans and signatures are stored locally and are not uploaded to our servers.
- Processed on the deviceMerge, split, compress, convert, sign and text recognition (OCR) all run on your phone or tablet.
- Camera on your termsUsed only when you scan a document or a signature, and changeable anytime in settings.
- Diagnostics, not your filesAny analytics or crash reports help us fix bugs and never include your documents.
- No payment detailsAny purchase is handled by Apple or Google.
3. Information we collect
Information processed on your device to provide features
- PDFs you import — files you choose from Files, device storage (such as iCloud Drive or Google Drive) or Photos. The App copies them into its own storage on your device so they still open if the original moves, and reads them on your device to show pages, previews, page counts and search results. See Your documents, scans & signatures.
- Camera images and scans — pages you capture with the document scanner. Edge detection, cropping, filters, clean-up and text recognition (OCR) are performed on your device.
- Photos you choose — images you select to turn into a PDF or to use as a signature. The App reads only the photos you pick.
- Signatures and initials — signatures and initials you draw, scan from paper or pick from a photo, saved in the App so you can reuse them.
- Library data — folder names, file names, bookmarks, recent files, recent searches, your last-read page and document dates, stored on your device.
- Settings — your appearance, reading mode, page layout, default view, recent-files retention, notification and printer preferences, stored on your device.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information — where the App uses analytics tools, device model, operating system, app version, language, approximate region (based on IP address), feature usage and in-app events. These never include the contents of your documents, scans or signatures.
- Diagnostics — crash logs and performance data that help us find and fix problems.
- Advertising identifiers — if the App shows ads, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android) where permitted, used by our advertising partners. See Advertising.
Information you give us
If you contact support, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, such as a screenshot or a file you choose to attach, and use it only to respond to you. Please don't send us confidential documents unless we need them to fix a problem and you are comfortable sharing them.
4. Device permissions
The App asks for a permission only when you use a feature that needs it. You can grant, deny or revoke any permission in your device settings; features that depend on a denied permission will not work, but the rest of the App will. The App does not ask for your location.
| Permission | Why the App uses it |
|---|---|
| Camera | Scanning documents, ID cards, books and whiteboards, and scanning a signature from paper. |
| Photos / media library | Choosing photos to turn into a PDF or to use as a signature, and saving pages you export as JPG or PNG images. |
| Files / storage | Opening PDFs you choose to import, and saving or sharing the PDFs and images you create, including saving to Downloads on Android. |
| Notifications | Optional reminders and alerts you choose to turn on in Settings. |
| Local network / printing | Finding and printing to a printer with AirPrint on iOS or the system print service on Android. |
| Network access | Ads, analytics and crash reporting where used, and purchases. Your documents are not sent over the network unless you share them. |
| App tracking (iOS) | If the App shows ads, asking whether they may use your advertising identifier across apps. |
5. How we use information
- To provide and operate App features you request, such as the PDF library, reader, bookmarks, search, PDF tools, signing, printing and the document scanner.
- To maintain, secure and improve the App, including diagnosing crashes and understanding which features are used.
- If the App shows ads, to show advertising and to measure ad performance.
- To manage access to any paid features and restore purchases.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not read, analyse or use the contents of your documents, scans or signatures for advertising or any other purpose.
6. Service providers & third parties
We share information only as needed with service providers that help us run the App, under contracts or terms that limit how they use it:
- Analytics and crash-reporting providers — where used, receive device, usage and diagnostic information, but not your documents.
- Advertising partners — see Advertising.
- Apple and Google — process any in-app purchases or subscriptions and may provide related transaction data. Their operating systems also provide the file picker, photo picker, share sheet and print services the App uses.
When you share a PDF or image, save it to Files or a cloud drive, or send it to a printer, it goes to the app, service, person or printer you choose, under their privacy terms.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply.
7. Advertising
If the App displays ads, they are served by third-party ad networks (such as Google AdMob). These partners may collect device identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from it, and ad-interaction data to deliver, limit and measure ads and, where you allow it, to personalise them. Ad partners never receive your documents, scans or signatures.
- iOS: ads use your advertising identifier across apps only if you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can change this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Android: you can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in Settings › Privacy › Ads.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: we ask for your consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change your choice in the App's settings.
Under some US state laws, using identifiers for targeted advertising may be treated as “sharing”. You can opt out using the device settings above.
8. Purchases & payments
Any in-app purchase or subscription we offer is bought and managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never receive or store your card or bank details. Apple or Google may share limited transaction information with us, such as a purchase token, product, status and renewal date, so we can unlock the features you paid for and restore purchases.
9. Your documents, scans & signatures
- PDFs you import are copied into the App's storage on your device. The original file is left unchanged where it is. Damaged, empty and password-protected PDFs are refused and are not kept.
- All PDF tools — merge, split, compress, PDF to image, image to PDF, rotate, reorder, delete and extract pages, and signing — run on your device. We do not upload your documents to our servers to process them.
- Scans are processed on your device, including the OCR text layer that makes scanned text searchable. Scans can be edited again later from your library.
- Your saved signatures and initials (up to 6 of each) are stored in the App on your device. Background cleaning of scanned and photo signatures happens on your device. You can delete a saved signature at any time.
- Files you create or export leave your device only when you share them, save them to a cloud location, or print them. A signed PDF contains your signature image, so think about who you share it with.
10. Storage & retention
- Your library, folders, bookmarks, scans, signatures, recent searches and settings are stored locally on your device. Deleting them in the App or uninstalling the App removes them, except for copies you have saved elsewhere, such as your Files app, gallery or cloud drive. Storage clean-up in the App never removes a file without your confirmation.
- Your device's own backups (such as iCloud or Google backup) may include App data, according to your device settings.
- How long files stay in your Recent list is set by you in Settings › Recent Files.
- Analytics and crash data are kept by our providers only for as long as needed for the purposes above, in line with their retention settings, unless a longer period is required by law.
- Support emails are kept for as long as needed to resolve your request and for our records.
11. Your choices & rights
- Permissions: turn camera, photos, files and notification access on or off in your device settings.
- Ads: manage tracking and ad personalisation as described in Advertising.
- Local data: delete documents, folders, bookmarks, scans and saved signatures in the App, or uninstall the App.
- Your rights: depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act or US state laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, email support@techkhedut.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. Because your documents are stored only on your device, we cannot access, recover or delete them for you. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
12. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including keeping your documents on your device and using encrypted connections (HTTPS) to our service providers. The security of your documents also depends on your device, so we recommend using a device passcode and keeping your operating system up to date. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. International transfers
TechKhedut is based in India, and our service providers may process information in other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for these transfers.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, let you know in the App.
